Lakyn Day serves as the Principal Violist of the Wylie High School Orchestra, where she is recognized for her expressive tone, refined musicianship, and inspiring leadership. Under the direction of Brian Coatney, Sadarius Slaughter, and Carly Addison, she has developed a deep appreciation for musical collaboration and artistic excellence that defines her approach to performance.As principal, Lakyn played a vital role in leading the orchestra to earn Sweepstakes honors at the UIL Concert and Sight-Reading Evaluation, contributing to the ensemble’s cohesive sound and polished artistry. Beyond the school program, she continues to share her passion for music by leading viola sectionals with the Wylie Community Orchestra, mentoring younger players and fostering a culture of teamwork and musical growth.Lakyn has studied under the guidance of Ellen Townley during sectionals and has received additional instruction from Nancy Norton, both of whom have greatly influenced her technical precision and expressive playing style. Her musicianship is often described as sweet, warm, and passionate, reflecting a sound that balances lyricism with confident leadership.In addition to her musical accomplishments, Lakyn is also active in Hometown Theatre under the direction of Mikayla Moore, where she has performed as a lead actress in several productions. Her stage experience has strengthened her expressive range, stage presence, and collaborative artistry.Outside the arts, Lakyn is deeply interested in robotics, applying the same creativity, curiosity, and problem-solving mindset that characterize her work as a musician and performer. Through all her endeavors, Lakyn Day continues to embody dedication, versatility, and a genuine passion for the arts and innovation.
